Huawei Mate 9 Unboxing. Checkout the glimpse of a flagship smartphone with premium cameras and much more.
It is indeed the year of dual cameras with devices having two cameras at the rear. We have the Huawei Mate 9, the company’s premium phablet offering and successor to the Mate 8 of last year. Let’s unbox it and check it out!
Box Contents :
When opened, you are presented with mate 9 itself and few basic specifications mentioned on the display cover. the phone looks premium and worth the money paid! lets keep it aside for now and see the other box contents. there are two boxes among which one contains user manual, warranty card and an additional back case which again is of good quality and looks premium. The other box contains earpods lookalike earphones which is of good build quality. We are yet to test the audio output quality of this. USB Type C charging cable and a huawei super charge adaptor. This is a UAE imported unit and hence, a charging port is not of India. By the way charger supports fast charge. Lets wrap the accessories and look the Mate 9. Compared with the Mate 8, the Mate 9 is more refined with softer lines and curves making it easier to hold with one hand. We also find it a bit smaller compared with the past model thanks to the trimmed bezels. Our first hands on experience, we encountered a glossy back but not fingerprint magnet Mate 9. the model we have now is Champagne Gold and it is non glossy which we prefer. Leica cameras at the back adds aesthetic value to the premiumness of the device. Huawei MATE 9 Unboxing Video Review.
Build Quality :
Lets move ahead to check the build quality.
The phone feels great to hold in the hand and even though this is not the Porsche Design version, Huawei has by no means scrimped in the build quality. For a phone with the screen size of 5.9? it does not feel huge and that is a testament to the honing of the engineers and design team at Huawei. Bottom of the device contains dual speakers and USB type C charging port. At the top, there is a 3.5MM audio jack in the huawei classical style and an IR blaster as well is retained. Huawei has made sure to retain all features being a top end device. Left hand side holds the sim tray which hosts a nano sim + hybrid sim slot which accepts either a nano sim or expandable storage upto 256GB. Right hand side has the volumer rockers and power button which are sterdy and metal built. Corners are slightly curved which gives the good grip for holding in hand. Back panel hosts the primary attraction of the device. It has a unibody metal design and has 20-megapixel (Monochrome) rear camera along with a 12-megapixel (RGB) camera on the back with Leica lenses, f/2.2 aperture, dual-tone LED flash, PDAF, CAF, Laser AF, OIS and supports 4K video recording. It also has a fingerprint sensor below the camera which is considered one of the fastest sensors in mobile devices. Huawei MATE 9 Unboxing Video Review.
At the front top, its metal grill earpiece with a sensor along with 8 megapixel camera with Auto Focus, F1.9 aperture lens which generates bright enough selfie photos even in the low light. The display is covered with a 2.5D curved glass which adds value to the beauty of the phone in the front end with the smooth curves. Bottom front of the phone is kept clear as almost all the huawei and honor phones comes with onscreen navigation buttons. There is only a huawei branding at the center. Lets checkout the initial impressions of the phone by quickly booting up the phone. The Mate 9 packs a 5.9-inch 1080p 2.5D curved glass display and is powered by Octa-Core Huawei Kirin 960 processor. The Huawei Mate 9 also comes in Black, Space Gray, Moonlight Silver, and Ceramic White colors and costs roughly INR 42,000/- through eBay and aliexpress and is not available in India directly and you can opt only for an imported version! The device is greeted with huawei’s latest custom UI EMUI 5.0. The big 5.9 inch display with Huawei icons placed looks premium and gives a premium expeirence as well. Another big surprise, and one that I have been harping on about for a bit, is the fact that the launcher now has the option to have either no app drawer or you can enable an app drawer. Swipe down from the top corner of the screen to view quick settings and thats customizable as well. swipe down anywhere on the screen will enable quick search of apps in the device. this becomes handy if you have loads of apps installed. Lets quickly look at the settings menu and the about phone section which displays the software and hardware specifications in brief.
